Une première étude publiée en 2024 rapporte que l’Ozempic peut favoriser la dépression et le suicide, parmi des jeunes femmes affectés par la dépression ou des problèmes de santé mentale.

Une seconde étude rapporte une augmentation possible de la production de calcitonine, un marqueur physiologique de l’hypercalcémie.

Discussion

Il serait possible que le semaglutide favorise différents mécanismes de compensation neurologiques, en réponse à l’augmentation du taux de calcium sérique, incluant des migraines, nausées et des troubles psychiatriques.

Cela dit, une augmentation excessive du taux de calcium, est conjointement associée à des problèmes oculaires et de césité.

Conclusion

Les effets rapportés du semaglutide sur le taux de calcium et le risque de dépression en réponse au traitement devraient faire l’objet d’études indépendantes.
